A fire at a home at 18 N. 8th St. is under investigation as electrical, according to a Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department spokesman.
The fire was reported at 11:12 p.m. June 17.
Three adults and two children living in the home had already evacuated the building when fire crews arrived, within 3 minutes of the report, the Fire Department spokesman said.
Fire crews saw light smoke coming from the one-story wood-framed building when they arrived, according to the spokesman. They found the fire in an attic area above a ceiling fan.
Firefighters brought the fire under control within 10 minutes, the spokesman said. The fire investigator looked into the cause of the fire. The Red Cross was called to assist the family. There were no injuries.
The estimated fire damage to the structure and contents was $10,000, the Fire Department spokesman said. The pre-fire estimated value of the home was $25,000.
