Twelve hours after the polls closed, returns still were not complete from Johnson County in the 3rd District contest for the U.S. House.
Only two-thirds of the Johnson County vote was reported by 7 a.m. Wednesday because of technical glitches. The county received a large number of mail-in ballots.
U.S. Rep. Kevin Yoder had developed a 10 percent lead by 7 a.m.
With 444 of 630 precincts in Johnson County reporting, plus votes from other counties, U.S. Rep. Kevin Yoder, R-3rd Dist., had received 152,781 votes, or 51 percent of the vote, compared to Democrat Jay Sidie’s 123,216, which was 41 percent. Libertarian Steven Hohe received 23,123 votes in Johnson County.
