Jean E. Young, 65, of Kansas City, Kan., was killed in a traffic accident at 3:23 p.m. May 11 in Lansing, Kan.
The accident, at the intersection of U.S. 73 and 4-H Road, happened when the 1999 Ford Taurus driven by Young failed to stop for a red light on U.S. 73 at 4-H Road and struck the rear of a Ford Edge that was stopped at the light, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report. It was unknown why the Taurus failed to stop, the report stated.
The driver of the Edge, a 61-year-old woman from Leavenworth Kan., was injured and taken to a hospital in Kansas City, Kan., according to the report. The passenger in the vehicle, a 64-year-old man from Leavenworth, Kan., also was injured and taken to the hospital, the report said.
