A fatal accident was reported about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, May 16, on I-70 near the Turner Diagonal exit in Kansas City, Kansas, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s crash report.
A Chevy Malibu and a Chevy Camaro were westbound on I-70 when, for an unknown reason, the Malibu became broadside in the highway and was struck by the Camaro, the trooper’s report stated. The Malibu rolled and came to rest in the north ditch, the report stated.
The driver of the Malibu, Amiyah S. Hatten, age 21, Kansas City, Missouri, suffered a fatal injury, according to the report. She was not wearing a seat belt, according to the trooper’s report.
The driver of the Camaro, a 20-year-old man from Kansas City, Missouri, had no apparent injury, the report stated.
A 19-year-old woman passenger in the Camaro from Wilmington, California, had no apparent injury, according to the report.
A third passenger in the Camaro, a 20-year-old woman from Wilmington, California, had a possible serious injury and was taken to a hospital in Kansas City, Kansas, the report stated.
