A fatal accident was reported about 2:29 p.m. Friday, June 2, on eastbound I-70 west of the 78th Street exit.
According to the Kansas Turnpike Authority trooper’s report, the driver of a GMC 4CE was eastbound on I-70 when he drifted off the roadway and hit a bridge pillar.
The driver, a 36-year-old man from Independence, Mo., was taken to a hospital and died, according to the trooper’s report.
