The Kansas City, Kansas, Martin Luther King Jr. celebration will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at the Jack Reardon Convention Center, 5th and Minnesota Avenue, Kansas City, Kansas. The guest speaker will be Professor Robert Smith Jr. of Samford University, Beeson Divinity School, Birmingham, Alabama. The theme of the event is “Empowering People to Live in Harmony, Love, Unity and Commitment.”
Stony Point Christian Church, 149 S. 78th, plans a biscuit and gravy breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, in the church coffee shop. The donation is $5 per person. Proceeds will go to a youth spring trip.
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1300 N. 18th St., Kansas City, Kansas, will observe the second Sunday in Epiphany at 10 a.m. Jan. 20. The parish will hold its annual meeting following the 10 a.m. service Sunday, Jan. 27.
