The Wyandotte County Mayors’ Prayer Breakfast is planned for 8 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at the Reardon Center, 500 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. The guest speaker will be Monsignor Stuart Swetland, president of Donnelly College in Kansas City, Kansas, and professor of leadership and Christian ethics. Metro Lutheran Ministry will hold the “Power of Each One” fundraising event at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, in the Overland Park Convention Center, 6000 College Blvd., Overland Park. The fundraiser will support the MLM food pantries, permanent supportive housing, minor home repair, employment support services and the MLM Christmas Store. The event also will include a farewell to retiring Executive Director Jim Glynn and a welcome to MLM’s new executive director, Scott Cooper. For reservations, call 816-285-3141 by Oct. 22.

Volunteers are needed for Samaritan’s Purse’s project, Operation Christmas Child. In this program, led by the Rev. Franklin Graham, volunteers fill shoeboxes with toys, school supplies and hygiene items. The shoeboxes are given to needy children. Operation Christmas Child has delivered more than 157 million gift-filled shoeboxes to children in more than 160 countries since 1993. This year, the local Kansas City, Kansas West Area Team hopes to collect 15,782 shoebox gifts to contribute to the 2018 global goal of reaching more than 11 million children in need. Shannon Zaring leads the local Kansas City, Kansas, West Area Team for Operation Christmas Child. Stony Point Christian Church, 149 S. 78th St., plans a trunk-or-treat event from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28. The event is open to the public.

St. Patrick Catholic Church, Kansas City, Kansas, plans an auction at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 2 at the parish center, 1086 N. 94th St. There will be a live and silent auction. Funds will be raised for the parish and school. The event includes a barbecue dinner. Admission is $45.

Members of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1300 N. 18th St., Kansas City, Kansas, will observe the 24th week in the Season of Pentecost at 10 a.m. Nov. 4. Later that day, the parish will host an organ recital at 3 p.m.; The Rev. Paul Turner, a Roman Catholic priest at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Kansas City, Missouri, will perform. A reception will follow the concert.
