Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 2203 Parallel, Kansas City, Kansas, plans a Fiesta after the 4 p.m. Mass on Saturday, Sept. 15. The fiesta features Mexican food, music, dancing and games.

The Cathedral of St. Peter, 416 N. 14th St., Kansas City, Kansas, plans a fall festival from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, in the parish hall. The event includes bingo, a silent auction and food. The Fairfax Four will entertain.

Holy Family Catholic Church, Kansas City, Kansas, will hold its 10th annual Slovenefest on Saturday, Sept. 22, at the school grounds and at Monsignor Mejak Hall, 513 Ohio, Kansas City, Kansas. The event begins after the 4 p.m. Mass at the church. Hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Activities include music, a Slovenian dinner, food and entertainment, with booths, a silent auction and music by Hrvatski Obicaj and the Brian McCarty Band. The money raised will support Holy Family Catholic Church.

Scripture Study and Reflection group will meet from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesdays at the Keeler Women’s Center, 2220 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. The group is facilitated by Heather Neds.
A Gospel Non-Violence Study Group will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the Keeler Women’s Center, 2220 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. The group is facilitated by Peg Burns Kerbawy.

Volunteers are needed for Samaritan’s Purse’s project, Operation Christmas Child. In this program, led by the Rev. Franklin Graham, volunteers fill shoeboxes with toys, school supplies and hygiene items. The shoeboxes are given to needy children. Operation Christmas Child has delivered more than 157 million gift-filled shoeboxes to children in more than 160 countries since 1993. This year, the local Kansas City, Kansas West Area Team hopes to collect 15,782 shoebox gifts to contribute to the 2018 global goal of reaching more than 11 million children in need. Shannon Zaring leads the local Kansas City, Kansas, West Area Team for Operation Christmas Child. St. Patrick Catholic parish, 1086 N. 94th St., is sponsoring an ice cream social at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22. The social starts at 5 p.m. and is open to the public. There will be a Mexican dinner, Burmese Chin dinner, burgers, hot dogs, bingo, children’s games, music and other activities.

Stony Point Christian Church, 149 S. 78th, Kansas City, Kansas, plans a potluck dinner at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, in the Cole Activity Center after the morning worship service. Those attending will bring soup or chili to share, along with a salad and dessert.

Members of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1300 N. 18th St., Kansas City, Kan., will observe the eighteenth Sunday in the season of Pentecost at 10 a.m. Sept. 23.
