A scholarship fundraiser, Taco Bingo, will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, at Christ the King Davern Hall, 53rd and Leavenworth Road, Kansas City, Kan. For $5, adults will receive two tacos, rice, beans, drink, one dessert and a bingo card. The children’s plate is $3.50.

The 57th annual Greater Kansas City Mayors’ Prayer Breakfast will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Thursday, March 1, at the Kansas City Downtown Convention Center Ballroom, 301 W. 13th St., Kansas City, Mo. The guest speaker at the breakfast will be Lamar Hunt Jr., owner of the Kansas City Mavericks hockey team. The breakfast is co-sponsored by more than 30 area mayors. This year the breakfast will benefit the nonprofit Sheffield Place of Kansas City, which helps homeless mothers and their children become more self-sufficient. A chili, soup and dessert cook-off, “Ragin’ Sweet and Spicy Fest,” will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Feb. 3 at Holy Name parish, 1001 Southwest Blvd., Kansas City, Kansas. There is a division for ages 13 and younger. Entries are being accepted from 3 to 4 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Stranded in the City will provide music.

“The Joy of Love,” a book by Pope Francis, will be the topic of a program from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays, Feb. 6 and Feb. 13, at the Keeler Women’s Center, 2220 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. The program will include an introduction, reflection and discussion on the book, which is about the vocation of the family. Kevin Kuehl and Eric Couto, Jesuit novices, will present the program. A spaghetti dinner to raise funds for the Sisters, Servants of Mary, will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, at St. Patrick Parish Center, 94th and State Avenue, Kansas City, Kansas. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children under age 10. Carryouts will be available.

A Boy Scout Chili Supper is planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, at Stony Point Christian Church, 149 S. 78th St., Kansas City, Kansas.

Members of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1300 N. 18th St., Kansas City, Kan., will observe the fifth Sunday after Epiphany at 10 a.m. Feb. 4.
