All Saints Catholic parish is planning a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Aug. 3 in St. Cyril’s Hall, 44 N. Mill St. Donations are $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger.

Members of Christ the King Catholic Church, 3024 N. 53rd St., are collecting nonperishable food items for the food pantry at Catholic Charities.

Grinter Chapel Methodist Church, 7819 Swartz Road, is planning an ice cream social from 1 to 4 p.m. July 19. Ice cream, a cookie or a brownie will be served. A donation of $4 for adults and $2 for children 10 and younger will be requested.

8300 State Ave., plans a picnic Sunday, Aug. 3, at the fellowship hall.

“Scripture Study, Bible Sharing and Reflection, Lectio and Journaling,” a regular weekly series facilitated by pastoral minister, Heather Neds, is offered from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesdays at Keeler Women’s Center, 2220 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kan. Stony Point Christian Church, 149 S. 78th, is planning a rummage sale 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. July 16-18, and 9 a.m. to noon July 19. The sale may include clothing, household items and tools. Movie night is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, July 26, in the Cole Activity Center. Those attending may bring a lawn chair. A nursery is provided.

St. Patrick’s CYO will benefit from the annual John Beggs Golf Tournament at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at Painted Hills Golf Course, 71st and Parallel Parkway. Entry fee is $95 per person, including lunch and dinner. Pre-registration may be made to 913-645-5840.

An honorary street name has been approved for the Rev. L.D. Sipple of Timothy Baptist Church. The street name was approved recently by the Unified Government Commission. Garfield Avenue from 22nd Street to 24th Street will be named after the pastor of Timothy Baptist Church. The request to change the name of the street was made by church members. According to church members, Sipple has a church at 2248 Garfield, which he remodeled. He owned several other properties in the neighborhood, and renovated them.
