An American Red Cross blood drive is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at the Bonner Springs Church of the Nazarene, 724 Nettleton Ave., Bonner Springs. For more information or to make an appointment, visit www.redcrossblood.org.

A spaghetti sauce contest will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Davern Hall, 53rd and Leavenworth Road, Kansas City, Kan. Those attending, at a cost at the door of $7.50 for adults and $5.50 for ages 7 to 12, will receive endless spaghetti and sauce tasting, bread, salad, tea, lemonade, one dessert and one opportunity to vote on the contest winner. Entries must register by April 13. Funds raised will go toward expenses for the annual ice cream social.

Judson Baptist Church, 8300 State Ave., Kansas City, Kan., will resume its regular Sunday morning schedule in April, including Sunday school at 9:45 a.m. and service at 11 a.m. on the first Sunday of the month; and for the remaining Sundays, 8:30 a.m., first morning service, 9:45 a.m., Sunday school, and 11 a.m., second Sunday service.

The Keeler Women’s Center, 2220 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kan., will hold a Scripture Group and Bible study from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesdays. Bible sharing and reflection, lectio and journaling will be led by Heather Neds, pastoral minister.

The Orphan Train will be the topic of the Holy Women program to be presented from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 14, at the Keeler Women’s Center, 2220 Central Ave., Kanas City, Kan. The program will be presented by Sister Thomasita Homan, a member of Mount St. Scholastica.

Risen Lamb International Church of the Nazarene, located in the Turner area of Kansas City, Kan., has announced the opening of the Risen Lamb Prayer Room and Retreat Center. On location at their church at 5301 Metropolitan Avenue, the prayer room and retreat center is open to the public for daytime retreats. All individuals or small groups seeking a quiet, sacred space to gather, pray, meditate, journal or read resources about prayer are welcome. The prayer room provides a peaceful space for solitude or can be scheduled in advance for groups of up to eight people. Guests seeking spiritual guidance may schedule a time of spiritual direction with one of the pastoral staff, and groups may inquire about scheduling a member of the pastoral team to lead or speak at a retreat. Stony Point Christian Church,
149 S. 78th St., will hold a junior-senior high youth movie night from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 9, in the Cole activity center at the church. Those attending may bring a snack to share.

On Saturday, April 9, St. Patrick Parish Center, 94th and State Avenue, Kansas City, Kan., will be the site of a taco-bingo fundraiser from 5 to 9 p.m. The fundraiser is by the Bishop Ward graduating class. Cost is $5 for three tacos, rice and a drink. Bingo will be played at an additional cost.

The Rev. Don Compier, the dean of the Bishop Kemper School for Ministry, Topeka, will be the guest preacher at 10 a.m. Sunday, April 17, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1300 N. 18th St., Kansas City , Kan. The service in Spanish will be at 7 p.m.

Wyandotte United Methodist Church, 7901 Oakland Ave., will start a new worship series, “Loving Large,” at worship services at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday, April 10.
