The Cathedral of St. Peter, 416 N. 14th St., Kansas City, Kan., will serve as the host church for penance services during Lent for Catholic churches in Wyandotte County. The penance services may be held in conjunction with a Holy Door observance. The remaining penance services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 8; and 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 22.
St. Peter’s Cathedral will hold a St. Joseph Table and spaghetti dinner on Sunday, March 20. The event is sponsored by the Altar Society and the Knights of Columbus and will be in the parish center, 409 N. 15th, Kansas City, Kan. The spaghetti dinner will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A free will offering will be accepted for the spaghetti dinner. The St. Joseph Table will be displayed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
First Christian Church of Bonner Springs, 148 N. Nettleton Ave., will be the host of Bread and Broth during the Lenten season. Lent is a time of reflection between Ash Wednesday and Easter. Bread and Broth is a simple meal of fellowship at 6 p.m. on Wednesday nights with a short service at 6:30 p.m. led by the pastor, Randy Beeman. The fellowship will help persons reflect on the importance of Jesus’ life, ministry, and his resurrection on Easter. This remaining dates for Bread and Broth are March 9 , 16 and 23.
First Christian Church, 148 N. Nettleton, Bonner Springs would like to invite the public to worship services at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, March 13. The Rev. Bill Rose-Heim, regional minister and president of The Christian Church of Greater Kansas City, will be preaching.
Judson Baptist Church, 8300 State Ave., will have an interim pastor preaching at Sunday services through March 13. The 8:30 a.m. service will be suspended during this time. Sunday School will be at 9:45 a.m. and the regular Sunday service will be 11 a.m.
The Keeler Women’s Center, 2220 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kan., is planning a program on “Holy Women, Eileen Egan,” a woman driven to search for peace, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 10. It will include Mass at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 13, and a service at 7 p.m. Monday, March 14, at Our Lady and St. Rose. It also includes a 4 p.m. Mass Saturday, March 12, at Christ the King Church, 3024 N. 53rd St., with a covered dish dinner afterward, and 9:30 a.m. Mass Sunday, March 13, at Christ the King. Risen Lamb International Church of the Nazarene, located in the Turner area of Kansas City, Kan., has announced the opening of the Risen Lamb Prayer Room and Retreat Center. On location at their church at 5301 Metropolitan Avenue, the prayer room and retreat center is open to the public for daytime retreats. All individuals or small groups seeking a quiet, sacred space to gather, pray, meditate, journal or read resources about prayer are welcome. The prayer room provides a peaceful space for solitude or can be scheduled in advance for groups of up to eight people. Guests seeking spiritual guidance may schedule a time of spiritual direction with one of the pastoral staff, and groups may inquire about scheduling a member of the pastoral team to lead or speak at a retreat. St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1086 N. 94th, Kansas City, Kan., is holding fish dinners from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Fridays during Lent in the parish center. The church is planning a Lenten mission at 6:30 p.m. March 6, 7 and 8.
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1300 N. 18th St., Kansas City Kan., will observe the Stations of the Cross at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 11; a soup supper will follow in the parish hall. There will be a training session for acolytes and lay eucharistic ministers at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 12. A Lenten study session will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday, March 13, before the 10 a.m. service in English; the service in Spanish will be at 7 p.m.
The United Methodist Women at Wyandotte United Methodist Church, 7901 Oakland Ave., are planning a taco salad supper from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at the church. A freewill donation will be accepted.
