Excessive heat warning in effect again today

Today’s weather will reach a high near 97, the National Weather Service said, with heat index values as high as 109. There will be a south wind of 6 to 11 mph.

An excessive heat warning remains in effect through 8 p.m. Sunday, July 24, the weather service said.

Residents are advised to do strenuous activities in the early morning or late evening, avoid the hot sun, wear loose and light-fitting clothes and stay in an air-conditioned room, according to the weather service. Residents should drink plenty of fluids and check on neighbors and relatives. Never leave children and pets unattended in a car for any period of time, the weather service advised.

Tonight, the low will be around 80, with a south wind of 7 to 11 mph, according to the weather service.

Sunday, the high will be near 95 with a heat index as high as 105, the weather service said. There will be a southwest wind of 7 mph.

Sunday night, there will be a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low of 75, and an east wind of 3 to 7 mph, according to the weather service.
