An inmate who walked away from minimum security at Lansing Correctional Facility was picked up Thursday in Kansas City, Kansas, and has been returned to the state prison.
The inmate was located near 65th and State Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas, according to a Kansas City, Kansas police spokesman. The inmate was returned to the prison by Lansing Correctional Facility personnel.
According to a spokesman for the Lansing Correctional Facility, Dustin Frank Robinson, 30, walked away from the minimum security facility at Lansing around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday. He was picked up Thursday morning.
The inmate was placed in restrictive housing after being seen by medical staff upon his return to LCF, according to the spokesman.
Robinson had been serving a 131-month sentence for aggravated assault, fleeing-attempting to elude police, robbery and driving under the influence, all from Shawnee County, according to the spokesman.
He had been scheduled to go before the Prisoner Review Board in August to determine a new release date, according to the spokesman.
The details of the escape are still under investigation, according to authorities.
The LCF spokesman thanked the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department for their assistance.
