An inmate died Monday, July 19, at El Dorado Correctional Facility in El Dorado, Kansas, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
Keith L. Wade, 33, died while at the El Dorado facility. A spokesman stated it is normal procedure for a death at a facility to be under investigation by KDOC and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
A spokesman stated the cause of death is pending an autopsy but is not believed to be COVID-19 related.
According to KDOC records, Wade was serving an 84-month sentence for battery of a juvenile correctional facility officer in 2015. He was convicted in Wyandotte County in 2017, according to records. He had a previous conviction of aggravated battery from Shawnee County.
