Dry weather will persist today and Saturday with below normal temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.
The next chance for precipitation will arrive Sunday morning as a wintry mix of light snow, sleet and freezing rain moves into the region, according to the weather service.
Light icing will be possible as this precipitation arrives, with the main icing north and east of the Kansas City area, the weather service said.
A light glaze of ice could be possible Sunday morning on cold roadways across the area before temperatures warm above freezing later in the day, according to the weather service. In Wyandotte County, the forecast will change from a chance of a wintry mix before 8 a.m. Sunday, to just rain after 8 a.m.
Today, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 24, and an east northeast wind of 5 to 8 mph, the weather service said.
Tonight, it will be partly cloudy with a low of 10, according to the weather service. There will be a wind chill reading of between minus 1 and 4 with an east northeast wind of 8 mph.
Saturday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 30 and wind chill values between minus 1 and 9, the weather service said. There will be a southeast wind of 7 mph.
Saturday night, there is a 20 percent chance of snow and sleet between midnight and 1 a.m., then a slight chance of drizzle after 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The temperature will rise to around 34 by 3 a.m., with a south wind of 7 to 9 mph.
Sunday, there is a 60 percent chance of rain, possibly mixed with freezing rain. It will become all rain after 8 a.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 39, with a south wind of 3 to 8 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.
Sunday night, the low will be around 26 with mostly cloudy skies, according to the weather service.
Monday, it will be sunny with a high near 45, the weather service said.
