A driver looking at a fire truck on the shoulder of I-635 ran into a vehicle in front of him on Tuesday evening, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.
A Ford Focus driven by a 60-year-old Shawnee, Kan., man was in back of a Ford on northbound I-635 not far from I-70 about 4:21 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, according to the report.
The driver of the Focus was looking to the right at a fire truck on the shoulder, according to the report, and when he looked forward again he was right on the Ford in front of him, striking the rear of the vehicle. The car in front was going slow with the traffic.
The driver of the Focus was injured and taken to a Kansas City, Kan., hospital.
The driver of the Ford in front, a 43-year-old Smithville, Mo., man, was not injured, according to the report.
