Driver of hatchback injured after collision with semi on I-70

The driver of a Toyota Yaris hatchback was injured and taken to the hospital after a collision at 7:55 p.m. Monday, June 26, on eastbound I-70 near the Turner Diagonal.

According to the Kansas Turnpike Authority trooper’s report, both the Toyota and a semi were eastbound when the Toyota veered out of its lane and sideswiped the semi.

The semi then spun to the left and struck the median barrier wall twice before coming to rest, the trooper’s report stated.

The driver of the Toyota, a 23-year-old woman from Camdenton, Missouri, was injured and taken to a hospital, the report stated.

The driver of the semi, a 73-year-old Kansas City, Missouri, man, was not injured, according to the trooper’s report.

  1. Seems like quite a few accidents on I-70 lately near the Turner Diagonal. Wonder if Amazon’s opening will see yet increased incidents with that increased traffic? I’ve heard rumblings about future changes to that specific highway interchange at the Diagonal, in the not-so-distant future. Everyone, please be careful.
