The driver of a car fleeing police on Oct. 2 near 94th and Parallel Parkway was charged with two counts of first-degree murder today, according to the Wyandotte County District Attorney’s office.
District Attorney Mark Dupree Sr. today charged Zackery Tyler Smith, 20, of Kansas City, Kansas, with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of felony interference with law enforcement, one count of felony eluding a police officer and one count of no driver’s license in possession related to the crime on Oct. 2, according to a spokesman.
Two persons who were passengers in the car Smith was driving died in a crash on Oct. 2.
Smith is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
