Driver crashes after falling asleep on I-70

A driver crashed after falling asleep at 6:55 a.m. June 7 on westbound I-70, west of the 110th Street exit.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report, a Hyundai Sonata was westbound on I-70 when the driver fell asleep, the vehicle left the roadway and went into a ditch.

The driver overcorrected, crossed all lanes of traffic, struck the barrier wall and came to a rest, the report stated. About 20 feet of barrier wall was damaged.

The driver, a 25-year-old man from Kansas City, Missouri, may have had minor injuries, according to the trooper’s report. He declined transport to a hospital.
