Bonner Springs police are investigating a double-fatality crash on Thursday night.
Bonner Springs Police Chief Mark Zaretski said about 10 p.m. Thursday, a 1995 black Ford pickup truck was traveling southbound on Martinek Lane near 118th Street at a high rate of speed.
As the truck cleared the crest of the hill, the driver lost control of the vehicle, he said. It began to rotate in a clockwise motion, and as it failed to negotiate the curve, it struck multiple trees, he said.
Both the driver and passenger, who were males, were pronounced dead at the scene, Chief Zaretski said. They were not wearing seat belts, he said.
The location of the crash was near the entrance of Camp Naish.
The names of the victims are not being released until family notification is made.
