El Centro will be the host of a discussion on refugee family detention to take place at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at the agency’s office at 650 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kan.
The discussion about immigration, part of Women’s Equality Week programs, will focus on what happens to women and children without legal status who are caught attempting to enter the country.
The discussion will talk about where they are taken and how they are treated.
Community volunteers will share their experiences on the border as they attempt to help women and children seeking asylum.
