The Wyandotte County Detention Center was evacuated Tuesday afternoon because of a chemical spill.
According to the Kansas City, Kansas, Fire Department spokesman, administrative officials in the building were evacuated as a result of the chemical spill.
Seven persons, including three inmates, were taken to the hospital, the spokesman stated.
The chemicals were extracted by Hazmat crews, the spokesman stated. A third party picked up the chemicals.
