The Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Department announced today that Deputy Scott Wood, who earlier had life-threatening injuries from multiple gunshots at a convenience store robbery, has now been released from the hospital.
Deputy Wood was shot on Wednesday, March 4, at a convenience store near 44th and Shawnee Drive in Kansas City, Kan.
“We are delighted and encouraged by the great medical progress Scott has made,” said Sheriff Don Ash in a news release. “I’m also encouraged and grateful for all of the expressions of support and good thoughts and prayers for Scott, his family, and the Sheriff’s Office.”
“Deputy Wood has made great progress from the trauma of the shooting,” said Dr. Michael Moncure, medical director of trauma at the University of Kansas Hospital, in the news release. “Now it is time for rest, rehabilitation, therapy and time to take him the rest of the way. He and his family (and his extended family in law enforcement) still have work ahead for them.”
