Dense fog over some areas

Parts of Wyandotte County are experiencing a dense freezing fog or a dense fog before 11 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

A dense fog advisory is in effect Tuesday morning, and could cause hazardous driving and minor ice accumulation in some areas, the weather service said. Visibility down to a quarter-mile is possible at times during the morning commute.

Snow from Sunday’s and Monday’s winter storm remains on the ground in Wyandotte County, and the temperature was 22 degrees at 8 a.m. Tuesday. The temperature will rise to 36 later today, according to the weather service, and snow will melt slowly.

While some of the snow on roadways will melt through the day, a complication could be that melted snow could refreeze into ice sheets on the roadways at night, the weather service said. Motorists should expect slick roads each morning for the next several mornings.

The temperature will be in the 30s today and Wednesday, the 40s on Thursday through Saturday, and the 50s on Sunday and Monday, according to the weather service. There is no precipitation in the forecast from Wednesday through Monday, at this time.

Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing later today and reach a high of 36, the weather service said. No precipitation is in the forecast today, except for the freezing fog in the morning through 11 a.m. Clouds should clear by mid-morning. A west wind will be 6 mph today.

Tonight, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 16 and a west southwest wind of 5 mph becoming calm in the evening, according to the weather service.

Wednesday, it will be sunny, with a high near 34 and a light and variable wind, the weather service said.

Wednesday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 25 and a south wind of 3 to 6 mph, according to the weather service.

Thursday, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 44 and a south wind of 7 mph, the weather service said.

Thursday night, it will be mostly cloudy with a low of 30, according to the weather service.

Friday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 44, the weather service said.

Friday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 27, according to the weather service.

Saturday, it will be sunny with a high near 47, the weather service said.

Saturday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 31, according to the weather service.

Sunday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 52, the weather service said.

Sunday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 35, according to the weather service.

Monday, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 54, the weather service said.
