The temperature at 9 a.m. was minus 2, which was a wind chill of minus 15, according to the National Weather Service.
The area is under a wind chill advisory until noon Sunday, Dec. 18, according to the weather service.
Highs today will only reach the mid-single digits to lower teens, the weather service said.
This morning’s temperatures will result in frostbite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken, according to the weather service. Those who must venture outdoors should make sure ethey wear a hat and gloves.
The high today in Wyandotte County will be about 11, according to the weather service. The wind chill will be between minus 2 and minus 12, with a north northwest wind of 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the afternoon.
Tonight, the low will be around 2, the weather service said. The wind chill values will be between minus 4 and minus 9. There will be a south southwest wind of 6 mph.
Monday, it will be sunny with a high near 30, according to the weather service. The wind chill will be between minus 1 and minus 11. A south southwest wind of 6 to 10 mph is forecast.
Monday night, the low will be around 18, with a south southwest wind of 8 to 10 mph, according to the weather service.
Tuesday, it will be sunny with a high near 38, and a southwest wind of 7 to 10 mph, the weather service said.
Tuesday night, it will be mostly clear with a low of 22, according to the weather service.
