A lot of people know that Kansas City, Kan., is a melting pot of the Midwest. A good example this is Joseph Manning, who currently owns Driscoll School of Irish Dance.

The main location of the school is on Johnson Drive in Mission, Kan. They’ll also have other schools in Lee’s Summit, Mo., Lawrence, Kan., and soon they will open another location in North Kansas City, Mo.

“Over the last four years Irish dancing has become very popular. At this year’s Kansas City Irish Festival we had 91 students competing,” Manning said. The Irish Fest is this weekend at Crown Center, Kansas City, Mo.

Manning grew up in Wyandotte County. He went to the former Muncie Christian School, and later was homeschooled.

Driscoll School of Irish Dance is known worldwide as one of the finest. Both Meg Mahoney and Molly Mahoney of Kansas City, Kan., study Irish dancing at Driscoll School of Irish Dancing. Meg and Molly are daughters of Judge William Mahoney and his wife Susanne. Both the girls have studied Irish dancing for a number of years and have competed in Irish dance competitions for several years.
