Customers without power could be over 9,000 in KCK

Following a storm that moved through Wyandotte County earlier tonight, the Board of Public Utilities outage map stated around 10:50 p.m. that the number of customers without power was over 9,000.

Earlier, the outage map said about 13,000 customers were without power about 10:08 p.m. June 17. The outage areas were all over Kansas City, Kansas, according to the map.

An updated number showed that at 10:27 p.m., the number of BPU customers without power was a little over 9,800.

At 7:42 p.m. June 17, the number of BPU customers without power had been reduced to 3,055, according to the outage map.

At 11:35 a.m. June 17, the number of BPU customers without power was 6,569, according to the outage map.

More than 5,000 customers were without power following last night’s storm.

BPU customers may report power outages to 913-573-9522, and water service problems to 913-573-9622.

Power outages also may be reported online on the BPU’s website at www.bpu.com.

In other weather-related news, Wyandotte County has been placed under a flood advisory for small and urban streams until 12:15 a.m. Sunday.
