COVID-19 cases increase by 72 in Wyandotte County

Wyandotte County reported 72 additional COVID-19 cases on Sunday, Nov. 8, according to the Unified Government COVID-19 webpage. The total cumulative number of COVID-19 cases was 8,844. There were no additional deaths, for a cumulative total of 166. (From UG COVID-19 website)

Wyandotte County reported 72 additional COVID-19 cases on Sunday, Nov. 8, according to the Unified Government COVID-19 webpage.

The total cumulative number of COVID-19 cases was 8,844. There were no additional deaths, for a cumulative total of 166.

The seven-day rolling average of positive cases in Wyandotte County was 51.57.

The Greater Kansas City area reported a daily average of 528 COVID-19 patients hospitalizations this week, an increase of 92 COVID-19 patients since last week. The figures are for a nine-county area in Greater Kansas City. The number of new cases per day this week was down by about 100.

According to the Kansas City Region COVID-19 Resource Hub, there were 62,824 total cumulative COVID-19 cases in Greater Kansas City. On Saturday, it was 62,497, an increase of 327.

Free COVID-19 testing available on Monday


A free COVID-19 pop-up test will continue from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, 9301 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, Kansas.

The pop-up test is through Vibrant Health and the Wyandotte County Health Equity Task Force.

UG Health Department COVID-19 tests will be available on Monday. The Unified Government Health Department has moved its COVID-19 testing from the 6th and Ann location to the former Kmart at 78th and State Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas. The hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Tests are free for those who live or work in Wyandotte County. The tests are now saliva COVID-19 tests.

The tests now are open to asymptomatic people as well as those who have symptoms or have been exposed to COVID-19. Check with the UG Health Department’s Facebook page to see if there have been any changes in the schedule. Bring something that shows that you live or work in Wyandotte County, such as a utility bill.
