COVID-19 cases continue to rise

Wyandotte County reported an additional 181 COVID-19 cases on Saturday, for a cumulative total of 11,563, according to the Unified Government COVID-19 website.

There were no additional deaths reported, for a cumulative total of 184.

The Mid-America Regional Council Kansas City Region COVID-19 web page reported 95,888 total cumulative cases on Saturday in the nine-county area, an increase of 493 since Friday. There were 1,162 total deaths in the nine-county Kansas City region, an increase of seven. There were 177 daily average new hospitalizations, an increase of four since Friday.

The Johns Hopkins COVID-19 dashboard reported 14,581,519 total cumulative COVID-19 cases in the United States on Saturday, an increase of 214,060 cases.

Virtual town hall meeting planned Tuesday

The UG Health Department will sponsor a virtual town hall on COVID-19 and Wyandotte County businesses from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8.

Topics to be discussed include the most recent health order and how it applies to local businesses, public health guidance and questions and answers. Registration is not required.

Hailey Shoemaker, an epidemiologist with the UG Health Department, will present the program with a guest, Chandra Green, director of Alive and Thrive – Wyandotte County.
