Kathy Briney, who was recently appointed by the Unified Government Commission as county appraiser, will be the featured speaker at the annual membership meeting of Business West at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at the main building at the entry to Schlitterbahn, just west of 94th Street and State Avenue.
Briney came to Wyandotte County in April 2015 to become the deputy county appraiser. She was appointed interim county appraiser when county appraiser Gene Bryan retired late last year; the Unified Government Commission confirmed her appointment as county appraiser in June earlier this year.
Briney has more than 23 years of appraisal and public service. She worked for the Property Valuation Division of the Kansas Department of Revenue and has served either as the county appraiser or deputy county appraiser for Ford, Butler, Jefferson and Barton counties.
Briney has an adult son and daughter who live in Johnson County. She enjoys hiking, landscaping, gardening and competing in 5K races.
Chuck Stites, development director for Schlitterbahn, will tell of various projects at Schlitterbahn. He is president-elect of Business West.
Officers and directors for the coming year will be elected.
All area business owners and managers are invited to this meeting. There will be no charge for the meeting or meal; however, reservations are strongly encouraged. Telephone 913-766-4300 or 913-406-6266 (cell) or email [email protected] for reservations.
