Community policing officers were ready for the shopping trip Thursday and Friday to Walmart in Kansas City, Kan. Many officers have been working on this event for years. The Kansas City, Kan., Police Department’s Community Policing Unit’s COPPS for Kids Christmas program was held on Thursday and Friday, and officers helped parents shop at Walmart at 10824 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, Kan. In the program families are assisted by donations from Kansas City, Kan., businesses and community members. Officers assist parents in shopping for more than 50 children, and then pay for the gifts that were chosen that day. The gifts then go to police headquarters where they are wrapped by volunteers.
