Cool weather today, freeze warning tonight

Temperatures may reach a low of 31 tonight.

The forecast calls for dry weather today, followed by a chance of rain by late Tuesday night, the weather service said. Ther eis a chance of thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon.

Dry and seasonably warm temperatures will return Thursday, the weather service said. The high will climb to 71 on Thursday, then 81 on Friday, according to the weather service. The weekend forecast will be in the 70s, with a chance of rain.

Today, it will be cool and sunny, with a high near 55, the weather service said. A north northwest wind of 8 to 14 mph will gust as high as 25 mph.

Tonight, the low will be around 31, with a north northwest wind of 5 to 9 mph becoming calm in the evening, according to the weather service. Winds may gust up to 20 mph.

Tuesday, there is a 30 percent chance of showers after 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 56 with a light east wind becoming south southeast 9 to 14 mph in the morning. Winds may gust up to 22 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected.

Tuesday night, there is a 60 percent chance of showers, then showers are likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 47 with a southeast wind of 11 to 14 mph, gusting to 23 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.

Wednesday, there is a 70 percent chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm, the weather service said. The high will be near 68 with a south southeast wind of 13 to 17 mph, gusting as high as 32 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.

Wednesday night, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 a.m., then a slight chance of showers between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m., followed by a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 47. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is possible.
