Cool, rainy day Thursday, snow possible Friday

After a cool and rainy day Thursday, snow will be possible on Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

The temperature was 41 at 9 a.m. and will rise to a high of about 48 today, the weather service said.

North of the St. Joseph, Missouri, area, there could be heavy snow today, according to the weather service.

In Wyandotte County, snow is possible before 7 a.m. Friday, with less than a half-inch predicted, the forecast stated.

Tonight, temperatures will drop to a low of about 34 degrees, with a freeze possible in some areas, according to the weather service. A freeze also is possible on Friday night. The freeze may kill unprotected vegetation and could damage exposed outdoor plumbing.

Today, there is an 80 percent chance of rain, mainly between noon and 2 p.m., then more showers after 2 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 48 with an east wind of 8 to 11 mph, gusting as high as 21 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.

Tonight, there is a 100 percent chance of showers, with a low of 34, according to the weather service. A north wind of 10 to 15 mph may gust as high as 23 mph. Between a half and three-quarters inch of precipitation is possible.

Friday, there is a 60 percent chance of rain and snow showers before 7 a.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 48. A north wind of 9 to 14 mph will gust as high as 22 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half-inch is possible.

Friday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 31 and a north northwest wind of 6 mph becoming calm in the evening, according to the weather service.

Saturday, it will be sunny, with a high near 62 and a calm wind becoming south southwest 5 to 9 mph in the morning, the weather service said. Winds may gust as high as 21 mph.

Saturday night, there is a 20 percent chance of showers, with a low of 45, according to the weather service.

Sunday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 63, the weather service said.

Sunday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 39, according to the weather service.

Monday, it will be sunny with a high near 69, the weather service said.

Monday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 48, according to the weather service.

Tuesday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 74, the weather service said.

Tuesday night, there is a 40 percent chance of showers, with a low of 53, according to the weather service.

Wednesday, there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a high near 70, the weather service said.
