U.S. Rep. Sharice Davids, D-3rd Dist., today toured Southwest Boulevard Family Health Care, a safety net clinic at 340 Southwest Blvd., Kansas City, Kansas.
Rep. Davids said health care is a major issue of her campaign, and that she has learned a lot by coming here. She added she was very excited to have this tour happen.
“We are honored to have Congresswoman Sharice Davids visit Southwest Boulevard Family Health Care to see first-hand how we serve and support thousands of low-income Kansas Citians and families throughout the Kansas City metropolitan community, as one of her concerns is for those in need to receive affordable quality health care,” Dr. Sharon Lee, CEO of Southwest Boulevard Family Health Care, said in a statement.
More than $1 million of charity care is provided to Kansas City, Kansas, and the surrounding communities by Southwest Boulevard Family Health Care from its locations on Southwest Boulevard and in Quindaro, according to information from the clinic.
More than 18,000 annual visits have been provided for medical, dental, vision, mental health, social services, literacy services, medication assistance and to an onsite pharmacy, a spokesman said. The clinic serves low-income, uninsured or underinsured clients, pregnant women and infants, and those with chronic diseases including HIV, hepatitis C and other serious illnesses.
