The Kansas City T-Bones will hold the inaugural Stadium Series, featuring local youth soccer teams, Oct. 10-11 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Kansas City, Kan.
The Stadium Series, whose host is Edwardsville Parks and Recreation, will include 38 teams, ranging in age from pre-K to eighth grade, from leagues in Edwardsville, Basehor, Piper and Turner.
“Edwardsville Parks and Rec is excited to partner with the Kansas City T-Bones and CommunityAmerica Ballpark to offer our youth the very unique and exciting opportunity to play soccer games on a big stage,” said Mike Martin, from Edwardsville Parks and Recreation. “Playing games in a great stadium, on great turf, with video board graphics and pictures of our youth, is truly the pinnacle of our youth’s soccer season.”
During the two-day event, 30 games will be played on two fields at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. Games are scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday, with the last game starting at 5 Saturday afternoon and 5:10 Sunday afternoon.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Edwardsville Parks and Rec on this tournament,” said T-Bones vice president and general manager Chris Browne. “We think CommunityAmerica Ballpark is the perfect spot for these types of events in the spring and fall, plus it’s great for the local community. Mike and his team have been super to work with and are huge supporters of the T-Bones.”
This isn’t the first time soccer has been played on the field at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. The Kansas City Wizards (now Sporting Kansas City) played their home games at CommunityAmerica Ballpark for three seasons, 2008-2010.
