Live at Legends free concert to be July 26
The Legends Outlets, I-70 and I-435, will sponsor free family friendly concerts on some Saturday evenings during July and August in front of the center courtyard fountain. Perpetual Change will perform from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 26. The Live at the Legends summer concert series will feature local and regional talent performing popular pop, classic rock and country hits from the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and today. The concert series will take place at the center of the Civic Courtyard Fountain in front of Phoenix Theaters Legends 14.
Summer concert to be July 26 at Legends
Dave and Buster’s Summer Concert Series will continue at 9 p.m. Saturday, July 26, on the rooftop patio at The Legends Outlets. Odyssey Road will perform from 9 p.m. to close July 26. Different bands will play on Saturdays through September.
UG to hold budget workshops
The Unified Government will hold special budget workshops in July in the fifth floor conference room, Suite 515, at City Hall, 701 N. 7th, Kansas City, Kan. The schedule is subject to change. The final budget public hearing, followed by a budget workshop if necessary, will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, July 28, in the Commission Chambers. Free summer movies offered
The Legends 14 Theatres will present “The Tale of Despereaux,” rated G, and “Turbo,” rated PG, at 10 a.m. July 29, 30 and 31. Admission is free. All ages and groups are welcome. Doors open at 9 a.m. Seating is limited to availability. Currently showing feature films are not included in the free admission, and the schedule is subject to change.

Health Fair planned July 26
A Health Fair is planned from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 26, at 730 Osage Ave., Kansas City, Kan., by the Armourdale Renewal Association. Free health screenings such as dental, blood pressure, adult health risk assessments, BMI, and glucose. There also will be information provided on several topics. Several organizations are participating.
Christmas in July event planned
The Unified Government Parks and Recreation Department will have a Christmas in July event from 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. July 26 at Wyandotte County Lake, 91st and Leavenworth Road. The event will include activities for children, a disc jockey, food, and a parade of pontoon boats at 8:15 p.m. The event is free to the public.
School supply drive planned for children in foster care
A school supply drive for Wyandotte County children in foster care will take place from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 27, at Walmart, 10824 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, Kan. KVC is holding the school supply drive for 527 children in Wyandotte County foster care, said Bryan Drescher, a community resource specialist with KVC. BPU Ethics Commission to meet
The Kansas City, Kan., Board of Public Utilities Ethics Commission will meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, in Conference Room B, West Wyandotte Public Library, 1737 N. 82nd St., Kansas City, Kan. Candidate forum to be held at KCKCC
Kansas City Kansas Community College will play host to a candidate forum from 6 to 9 p.m. July 30 in Room 2325 in Upper Jewell on the main KCKCC campus, 7250 State Ave. Candidates who will be on the primary election ballot in August have been invited to attend. There are several sponsors of the candidate forum. Those who have been invited include Republicans, Sen. Pat Roberts, D.J. Night trail run to be Aug. 1

Bonner Springs to hold Operation School Supplies
Operation School Supplies will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 2, at Bonner Springs High School for students in the Bonner Springs-Edwardsville School District. The event is intended to help low-income families with providing school supplies for their children in kindergarten through 12th grade. To qualify, students must be in the Bonner Springs-Edwardsville district, currently enrolled or a returning student in the district. Night Out Against Crime to be Aug. 5
Night Out Against Crime will be held at 5 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Kansas National Guard Armory, 18th and Ridge, Kansas City, Kan. The guest speakers include Topeka Police Chief Ron Miller, former Kansas City, Kan., police chief; and Thomas Beall of the U.S. Attorney’s office in Kansas. Local elected officials also are expected to speak. Children and adults may attend. A yo-yo demonstration and competition is planned. Community groups also are attending the event. The first 100 who belong to a registered neighborhood group will receive a free T-shirt. Prizes will be awarded. Those attending will also have the opportunity to meet with members of the local Police and Sheriff departments.

Students who live in Wyandotte County may participate. Parents should bring proof of residence. Children are required to attend. Dotte Trot to benefit SAFE fund
