Renaissance Festival continues Sunday

Leavenworth Road Association to meet Oct. 10
The Leavenworth Road Association will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, for a social hour and potluck dinner at the Eisenhower Recreation Center, 2901 N. 72nd St., Kansas City, Kansas. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. A chicken rice casserole will be provided for the potluck dinner, with members and guests bringing other dishes to share. Awards will be presented to the winners in the 2017 LRA parade. The program will include a community policing update. Any candidate attending will be allowed two minutes to present a platform.

“Purses with a Purpose” will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, at the Kansas City Kansas Community College Tech Center, 6565 State Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. Wyandotte County Museum exhibit on the Underground Railroad continues
The Wyandotte County Museum, 631 N. 126th St., Bonner Springs, has a new exhibit on the Underground Railroad on display. “Through Darkness to Light” features photographs taken mostly at night of sites along the Underground Railroad. The exhibit runs through Oct. 10. There are companion artifacts from the pre-Civil War era here currently on display at the museum. The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
