Renaissance Festival continues Sunday

Leavenworth Road Parade to be Sept. 17
The 32nd annual Leavenworth Road Parade is scheduled Sunday, Sept. 17, from 71st and Leavenworth Road to 51st and Leavenworth Road. Some participants will join the parade at 64th and Leavenworth Road. There is no charge to have an entry in the parade. Parade entries are due in by Sept. 12. There is no charge to attend the parade. Indian Springs meeting to be Tuesday evening
Community residents again will discuss what to do with Indian Springs at a meeting scheduled Sept. 19, according to Unified Government officials. The public meeting will be 5:30 p.m. at the Kansas City, Kansas, school district Central Office building, 2010 N. 59th St., near Parallel Parkway. Residents may share their opinions about the future of the former Indian Springs mall at 47th and State Avenue at the meeting. After registration at 5:30 p.m., the Sept. 19 meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and it will last until 8 p.m.

The new Amazon warehouse has changed the landscape along the Turner Diagonal Corridor. A panel of experts will discuss how this came about and the related development potential at the annual meeting of Business West starting at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at the Mary Ann Flunder Lodge (formerly the Conference Center) at Kansas City Kansas Community College, 7250 State Ave. The panelists will be Brent Miles, Northpoint Development; Jon Stephens, Unified Government; and Conrad Miller, a development lawyer. Wyandotte County Museum exhibit on the Underground Railroad continues
The Wyandotte County Museum, 631 N. 126th St., Bonner Springs, has a new exhibit on the Underground Railroad on display. “Through Darkness to Light” features photographs taken mostly at night of sites along the Underground Railroad. The exhibit runs through Oct. 10. There are companion artifacts from the pre-Civil War era here currently on display at the museum. The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
