Fairfax Industrial Association to attend luncheon

The Fairfax Industrial Association will attend a luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, at the Federal Reserve Bank, 1 Memorial Drive, Kansas City, Mo. Esther George will be the featured speaker. She will share her thoughts on the national and regional economy. Lunch will be provided. Other area industrial associations also are planning to attend. Book club to meet Tuesday

Sports physicals to be Aug. 10 at Piper
Piper High School has contracted with Children’s Mercy to provide training services for Piper students who are participating in sports, according to an announcement from the school. Sports physicals will be given from 9 a.m. to noon on Aug. 10 at Piper High School for ninth to 12th grade students. The students need to fill out a Kansas State High School Athletic Association form and present it at the physical, and parents or guardians should be present. ‘Pretty Nails’ program offered

Waterfowl Classic event planned Aug. 12-13
Cabela’s in Kansas City, Kansas, will offer waterfowl hunting enthusiasts and those wanting to learn more about the sport a weekend of activities, seminars and appearances during its Waterfowl Classic event, Aug. 12-13. In addition to many Waterfowl events taking place over the weekend, Cabela’s will also host DockDogs, which are flying and jumping dogs that may entertain families. There is no admission. Job fair planned Aug. 22
A job fair is planned from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, at the Kansas City Kansas Community College Burke Technical Center, 6565 State Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. The job fair was announced by U.S. Rep. Kevin Yoder, R-3rd Dist. The first hour of the job fair, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., is only for veterans. The rest of the job fair, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., is open to the public. Program offered about saving trees
A program will be offered about saving trees from the emerald ash borer. The program will cover identification and treatment, and recommended replacement trees.
