UG budget meeting planned July 10
The next Unified Government budget meeting will be held shortly after the 5 p.m. UG Standing Committee meeting Monday, July 10, at City Hall, fifth floor conference room, 701 N. 7th St., Kansas City, Kansas. The maximum mill levy is scheduled to be set on July 10. Other budget meetings are scheduled at 5 p.m. July 13, July 17, and July 20 in the fifth floor conference room. A public hearing on the UG budget will be held at 5 p.m. July 24 at the Commission Chambers, City Hall, with a budget workshop planned later. If needed a budget workshop will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, July 27, with the adoption of the budget scheduled at 7 p.m. July 27 in the Commission Chambers.

Wyandotte County Fair begins Tuesday
The annual Wyandotte County Fair begins Tuesday, July 11, and runs through Saturday, July 15, at the Wyandotte County Fairgrounds, 13700 Polfer Road, Kansas City, Kansas. The location is east of K-7 on Polfer Road. A carnival, exhibits, a petting zoo, entertainment and special arena events are planned, including a mud run at 6 p.m. Saturday. There is a separate charge for the mud run. 4-H members and open class contestants will exhibit their animals and their work in many categories. Food and drink will be available for purchase. There are special contests this year, including a fruit pie baking contest on Saturday. Hours of the fair are 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $5 per car. There is a charge for carnival rides. Candidate forum planned July 11
A forum for Unified Government mayoral candidates and Wyandotte County Sheriff candidates is planned July 11. The forum will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, at the First Baptist Church, 500 Nebraska Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. The forum is sponsored by Unity with a Purpose. The forum is free to the public. Doors will open at 5:45 p.m.
Leavenworth Road Association to meet July 11
The Leavenworth Road Association will meet at 6 p.m. July 11 at Eisenhower Recreation Center, 2901 N. 72nd, Kansas City, Kansas. A potluck dinner and social hour at 6 p.m. will be followed by the meeting at 7 p.m. Candidates who wish to speak will be offered 2 minutes at the meeting.
Nine free concerts to be offered this summer at Legends Outlets
The Legends Outlets will continue its free outdoor concert series, Legends Live, on Saturday evenings this summer. Some of the performers will be local bands. The concert series will include nine performances from 5 to 7 p.m. June 10 through Aug. 5 at the Civic Courtyard Fountain at The Legends Outlets, according to a spokesman. A range of styles, including popular music, classic rock, rock alternative, rhythm and blues, country hits and selections from the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and today will be featured. The concert series will end Aug. 5 with a family friendly performance tied to Legends Outlets’ Back-to-School event featuring children’s music, giveaways and activities. The Legends concerts are held near the fountain, near the Legends 14 Theatre, at 1843 Village West Parkway, Kansas City, Kansas. The Legends Live concert schedule includes:

Astronomy program scheduled July 18
Participants will learn about stars and constellations in a Starlab Planetarium program at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, at the Mr. and Mrs. F.L. Schlagle Library, 4051 West Drive, Kansas City, Kansas, at Wyandotte County Lake Park, 91st and Leavenworth Road.
