Offices closed on Memorial Day
Unified Government offices and Board of Public Utilities offices are closed on Monday, May 29, for Memorial Day. They will be open again on Tuesday, May 30. Trash collection is delayed a day. Also closed on May 29 are state and federal offices, the Kansas City, Kansas, Public Libraries, and the Keeler Women’s Center.
Healthy relationships group to meet
A group on healthy relationships and domestic violence education and support will meet from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, at the Keeler Women’s Center, 2220 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. Program participants to paint an icon

Latino Arts Festival to be June 3
A Latino Arts Festival is planned on Saturday, June 3, in downtown Kansas City, Kansas. The parade and festival are sponsored by the Kansas City, Kansas, Chamber of Commerce, El Centro, Downtown Shareholders, Hallmark Cards and others. There will be a car show in conjunction with the event. A parade will start at noon at 4th and Minnesota Avenue and will end at 12th and Minnesota. There will be art booths, vendor booths, food and drink for sales, a children’s area and a disc jockey.
Candidate fundraiser planned June 5
A fundraiser for Mike Kane, running for re-election to the 5th District, will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 5, at the Due West Ranch, 134th and Donahoo Road, Kansas City, Kansas. The fundraiser will include a meet-and-greet with the candidate.
Leavenworth Road fishing derby to be June 10
The Leavenworth Road Association’s annual Kids Free Fishing Derby will be held on Saturday, June 10, at Wyandotte County Lake kids’ pond. The fishing derby is open to children from 3 to 15 years old. Nine free concerts to be offered this summer at Legends Outlets
The Legends Outlets will continue its free outdoor concert series, Legends Live, on Saturday evenings this summer. Some of the performers will be local bands. The concert series will include nine performances from 5 to 7 p.m. June 10 through Aug. 5 at the Civic Courtyard Fountain at The Legends Outlets, according to a spokesman. A range of styles, including popular music, classic rock, rock alternative, rhythm and blues, country hits and selections from the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and today will be featured. The concert series will end Aug. 5 with a family friendly performance tied to Legends Outlets’ Back-to-School event featuring children’s music, giveaways and activities. The Legends concerts are held near the fountain, near the Legends 14 Theatre, at 1843 Village West Parkway, Kansas City, Kansas. The Legends Live concert schedule includes:
June 10: Red Guitar: Transcendent melodic rock and alternative band with rich vocal harmonies covering music from the 1990s to now.

Aug. 5: Mr. Stinky Feet and The Hiccups (family night): Award-winning kid rocker Jim “Mr. Stinky Feet” and his band, The Hiccups, performing popular children’s music.
