Salad Exchange program to be May 21
The Bonner Springs City Library, 201 N. Nettleton Ave., will have a Salad Exchange at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 21. Those attending will bring their favorite salads to share. Program on ‘Souping and Juicing’ planned May 23
A program on “Souping and Juicing” will be presented from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, at the Keeler Women’s Center, 2220 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. BPU to meet May 24
The Board of Public Utilities is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, at the BPU offices at 540 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. On the agenda for the regular meeting are a visitors’ time, a report on a turbine upgrade, board comments, general manager comments and an executive, closed session. There will be no work session May 24.

Program offered about managing money
“Every Cent Counts” will be offered from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 25, at the Keeler Women’s Center, 2220 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. ‘Pretty Nails’ program offered
Appointments for a “Pretty Nails” program will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, May 25, at the Keeler Women’s Center, 2220 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kan. Parenting group to meet May 25
A parenting support group will meet from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 25, at the Keeler Women’s Center, 2220 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. Author of book about Sierra Leone to speak
James Weller, a 1977 graduate of Bonner Springs High School, will speak and sign books at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 25, at the Bonner Springs City Library, 201 N. Nettleton Ave., Bonner Springs, Kan. ‘Life and Money in Retirement’ to be topic of program
“Life and Money in Retirement” is the topic of a program to be presented at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, at the Bonner Springs City Library, 201 N. Nettleton Ave., Bonner Springs. Latino Arts Festival to be June 3

A Latino Arts Festival is planned on Saturday, June 3, in downtown Kansas City, Kansas. The parade and festival are sponsored by the Kansas City, Kansas, Chamber of Commerce, El Centro, Downtown Shareholders, Hallmark Cards and others. There will be a car show in conjunction with the event. A parade will start at noon at 4th and Minnesota Avenue and will end at 12th and Minnesota. There will be art booths, vendor booths, food and drink for sales, a children’s area and a disc jockey.

Leavenworth Road fishing derby to be June 10
The Leavenworth Road Association’s annual Kids Free Fishing Derby will be held on Saturday, June 10, at Wyandotte County Lake kids’ pond. The fishing derby is open to children from 3 to 15 years old. Nine free concerts to be offered this summer at Legends Outlets
The Legends Outlets will continue its free outdoor concert series, Legends Live, on Saturday evenings this summer. Some of the performers will be local bands. The concert series will include nine performances from 5 to 7 p.m. June 10 through Aug. 5 at the Civic Courtyard Fountain at The Legends Outlets, according to a spokesman. A range of styles, including popular music, classic rock, rock alternative, rhythm and blues, country hits and selections from the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and today will be featured. The concert series will end Aug. 5 with a family friendly performance tied to Legends Outlets’ Back-to-School event featuring children’s music, giveaways and activities. The Legends concerts are held near the fountain, near the Legends 14 Theatre, at 1843 Village West Parkway, Kansas City, Kansas. The Legends Live concert schedule includes:
June 10: Red Guitar: Transcendent melodic rock and alternative band with rich vocal harmonies covering music from the 1990s to now.
June 17: J Love Band: Energetic funk and blues band playing classic soul, jazz and R&B music from legendary artists.
June 24: Run With It: Powerhouse trio built on a foundation of funk playing pop-rock hits from the 1980s to now.
July 1: The Zeros: Kansas City’s premier 1980s tribute band playing new wave hit songs.
July 8: Rusty Laffoon: Soulful country band with high energy and strong vocals covering favorite country rock hits.
July 15: Perpetual Change: Rock band playing hits from the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s, as well as a few original songs.
July 22: Rattle and Hum: Kansas City’s premier U2 tribute band covering hits from the 1980s to current.
July 29: Big Time Grain Company: Kansas City’s premier country western and country rock band performing crowd favorites from many artists.
Aug. 5: Mr. Stinky Feet and The Hiccups (family night): Award-winning kid rocker Jim “Mr. Stinky Feet” and his band, The Hiccups, performing popular children’s music.

Wyandotte County Museum
