Museum features Olde World Christmas
The Strawberry Hill Museum is featuring an Olde World Christmas, with tours of the museum decorated for the holidays available. Open on weekend afternoons through the end of January. Enrichment program offered Feb. 1

The two-part Child-Adult Relationship Enrichment (C.A.R.E.) program will be offered from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on two Wednesdays, Feb. 1 and 15, at the Keeler Women’s Center, 2220 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kan. The program is for parents seeking to strengthen child-parent relationships and increase positive child behaviors. It will be presented by Michelle Bertuglia-Haley, MSW, LSCSW. Raising Safe Kids program offered

The “ACT Raising Safe Kids Program” will be offered from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Mondays through March 6 at the Keeler Women’s Center, 2220 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kan. Those participating will learn and use positive discipline, anger management and conflict resolution skills. The class is presented by certified trainer Heather Neds. Art and wine event planned

BPU to meet Feb. 1
The Board of Public Utilities will meet on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the BPU offices, 540 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kan. On the agenda for the work session at 5 p.m. Feb. 1 are a board update, general manager update, and a report on the Nearman boiler. On the agenda for the regular meeting at 6 p.m. Feb. 1 are a visitors’ time; continuation of the rate hearing; an excellence in financial reporting award; Eagle Day recap; board comments; general manager comments; and a closed executive session.

Program to be presented Feb. 1 on Constitution and Bill of Rights
A program on the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights will be presented at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the Bonner Springs City Library, 201 N. Nettleton Ave., Bonner Springs, Kan. The program will be presented in conjunction with a National Archives Traveling Exhibit Service display at the library. The exhibit also is made possible by the Kansas Humanities Council. Master Gardeners sponsor class Feb. 2
The Wyandotte County Extension Master Gardeners are sponsoring “Organic vs. Locally Grown: Which Is Better for You” at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2. The 90-minute class will feature Elisabeth Kasckow, an associate professor of biology at Kansas City Kansas Community College. She teaches environmental science, among other courses. Prior to moving to Kansas, Kasckow and her husband owned a fish farm in southeastern California where they grew catfish, bass and tilapia. Kasckow dabbles at gardening and raises bees to help with pollination at her local community garden. Her presentation will cover the health and economic aspects of our food, the business of farming, and the varying definitions of “organic.” The presentation will be in the Sunflower Room of the K-State Research and Extension, Wyandotte County office, 1208 N. 79th St., Kansas City, Kan. Women writers to meet Feb. 2

Creation health program offered

A Creation Health program will be offered from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Thursdays through March 2 at the Keeler Women’s Center, 2220 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kan. The group will meet from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2. The goal of the program is to be one’s best in 2017, find new energy, peace and good health. World War II aviator to speak
Charlie Warren, a Bonner Springs resident featured in the book, “Heroes in the Skies: American Aviators in World War II, will speak about his experiences to an open meeting of the Bonner Springs Historic Preservation Society at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at the Bonner Springs City Library, 201 N. Legislative forum to be Feb. 11 at library
The Johnson County League of Women Voters will sponsor a legislative forum at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Main Library, 625 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kan. All members of the Wyandotte County legislative delegation have been invited.

Leavenworth Road Association to meet Feb. 14
The Leavenworth Road Association will meet Feb. 14 at Eisenhower Recreation Center, 2901 N. 72nd St., Kansas City, Kan. The potluck dinner and social time begins at 6 p.m., followed by the meeting at 7 p.m. The guest speaker will be David Mehlhaff, chief communications officer, Board of Public Utilities, who will speak about the HomeServe program.

Master Food Volunteer training to begin Feb. 15
The Master Food Volunteer Training Program will start Feb. 15. This program allows people with interests in food, cooking, and nutrition to take their expertise to a higher level while developing new avenues for helping in the community. Exercise program for older adults offered
“Stay Strong, Stay Healthy,” an 8-week exercise program for older adults, will be offered beginning April 4. The program targets strength, balance and flexibility. Counseling offered
Keeler Women’s Center, a ministry of the Benedictine Sisters of Mount St. Scholastica, 2220 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kan., offers individual and couples counseling to women and men who might otherwise not be able to afford counseling. The Grinter Place State Historic Site, 1420 S. 78th St., Kansas City, Kan., is one of the oldest homes in the area, built in 1857.
