I always try to learn something whenever I go somewhere.
For example, when I went to the candidate forums last fall as a panelist, the most valuable piece of information I learned was from Tom Earp, a candidate.
He said you can get a good haircut from the students at the KCKCC Technical Education Center for a low price. (Make sure you call first.) That’s valuable information.
I attended my daughter, Christine Rupert’s, art show on Sunday at the Savory Spice Shop in the Brookside area of Kansas City, Mo.
She has some beautiful flower, landscape and other subject paintings on display there during January. They are watercolors, acrylics, pastels and colored pencils. It was very interesting to see the artworks placed among the spice shelves. Some people with experience in the art world work there, and they rotate art shows monthly.
While there, I learned that some people who are getting over colds and flu are ordering curry spices, or spices that can be used in soups. That’s more valuable information, something people can use.
I also saw a CDC flu map online that showed that for the week ending Dec. 30, the flu was widespread in Kansas, Missouri and throughout most of the United States. (https://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/usmap.htm) More valuable information.
Next, I learned that even when the temperature is above 32 outside, there could be a few slick spots in places. Be careful, everyone.
