Cold front moves in today

A strong cold front will move into the region today, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures will rise to almost 73 by noon, then fall to about 56 during the rest of the day, the weather service said.

A few strong storms are possible, with damaging winds.

Colder temperatures are behind the front, Thursday night into Friday and Saturday, with highs in the 30s on Friday.

Today, showers and thunderstorms are possible before 5 p.m., then showers are likely, the weather service said. Temperatures will rise to near 73 by noon, then fall to around 56 by the remainder of the day. A south southwest wind of 11 to 18 mph will become north northwest in the afternoon, with winds gusting up to 34 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected.

Tonight, there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9 p.m., then a chance of showers between 9 p.m. and midnight. The low will be about 27.

On Friday, Veterans Day, it will be sunny, with a high near 37, the weather service said. A north northwest wind of 11 to 15 mph will gust as high as 24 mph.
