Seven-seeded Kansas City Kansas Community College will play host to No. 10 Cloud County in opening Region VI Division II softball playoff action Saturday, May 4.
A best-of-three series, two games will be played Saturday at 1 and 3 p.m. If a third game is necessary, it will be played Sunday starting at noon. KCKCC (34-18) will close out regular season play Wednesday against North Arkansas in Harrison.
Cloud and KCKCC met twice in the opening games of the Jayhawk Conference season March 16, the Blue Devils winning both game 19-8 in five innings and 4-3.
Sixth in the Jayhawk with a 12-8 record, KCKCC goes into the District D playoffs seeded No. 7. Ninth in the Jayhawk at 4-16 and 11-27 overall, Cloud is seeded No. 10 in the six-team playoff.
A win over Cloud would send KCKCC into the District D semifinals against No. 2 seeded Hesston at Topeka’s Hummer South Field Saturday, May 11, at 10 a.m. Murray State of Oklahoma plays North Arkansas in the other first round game Friday with that winner advancing to the semifinals against Johnson County May 11.
