A cleanup is underway in Wyandotte County after a thunderstorm with 70 mph winds late Saturday night downed tree limbs and caused a power outage that at one point affected more than 13,000 Board of Public Utilities customers.

An estimated 10,000 people were reportedly without electricity in Wyandotte County. Some of the damage to power lines was severe, particularly in the Stony Point area.

A temporary shelter has been set up by the Red Cross for some residents, according to a resident.

The Turner area also saw a lot of limbs and power lines down. Westheight also reported downed tree limbs.
