Today begins with dense fog before 9 a.m. and then will become sunny with a high near 56, according to the National Weather Service.
There will be a south southeast wind of 8 to 15 mph today, with gusts as high as 22 mph, the weather service said.
Thunderstorms will move through the area on Wednesday morning, with no severe weather anticipated according to the weather service. Light rain will continue through the day on Wednesday. Temperatures will fall to about 45, and it will be windy, the weather service said.
Wednesday night, the low will be around 35 with mostly cloudy skies, according to the weather service. A west northwest wind of 5 to 10 mph will become light and variable in the evening.
The high will be near 47 on Thursday, with a light and variable wind becoming east northeast 6 to 11 mph in the morning, the weather service said. Thursday night’s low will be around 33.
Moderate to heavy rain will move in for the weekend, and could last through early next week, the weather service said. Area rivers and streams could experience some flooding next week.
On Saturday, the high will be near 52, with a 60 percent chance of rain, according to the weather service.
Saturday night, expect a 70 percent chance of rain, the weather service said. The low will be around 36.
On Sunday, there is a 60 percent chance of rain, with a high near 41, the weather service said.
Sunday night, the chance of rain is 60 percent with a low of 33, according to the weather service.
Monday, expect more rain, with a 50 percent chance. The high will be near 44, the weather service said.
Light winter weather will also be possible north of Highway 36 and west of I-35 (north of the Kansas City area) Sunday and Monday, according to the weather service, and major effects are not anticipated at this time.
