Many events are canceled today throughout the metropolitan Kansas City area because of a winter snowstorm.
Residents are advised to call or check with organizations before they attempt to go out today.
The Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools, the library branches in Kansas City, Kansas, and the Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools district offices were closed at 11:30 a.m. today, Feb. 15. Students already were off for the day, but teachers and staff were sent home early today.
Staff members for the schools were released at 11:30 a.m. today. The school district already was scheduled for no school for Friday, Feb. 15, as it was a scheduled family advocacy day. All remaining family advocacy day meetings are canceled.
The school district also is off for Monday, Feb. 18, which is Presidents Day.
All Kansas City Kansas Community College campuses closed early at noon Friday, Feb. 15, because of the winter weather. All classes and activities were canceled for the rest of the day at all KCKCC locations.
Cancellations today include Meals on Wheels in Kansas City, Kansas.
